This topic is probably more accurately described as a guideline to investigation of iron overload, however hemochromatosis is the aspect of iron overload which is highlighted. Like Celiac Disease, this is a diagnosis in my practice which is probably common, but not often enough considered. The guideline is adapted from the most recent British Columbia Medical Association document. A flow sheet is also included for quick reference to the investigation of this disorder.
